Dish

We choose to package Nigiri and Maki, because they are the most common sushi dishes to swedes. Due to their beautiful appearance our mission became to present the sushi not only as food, but also as art.

Target Group and Strategy

Our target group are mostly people on holliday, who wish to eat more healthy during their vacation at Åre ski resort. Åre stands as the largest ski area in sweden and is located close to the production of Take Mikado’s sushi. There for Åre became a natural point-of-sale, the transport of fresh sushi have be short both for enviromental reasons and to keep the freshness. People on vacation often don’t want to cook their own meal or eat at a restaurant every day.  This is where our concept come in, instead of forcing your self to a restaurant you are able to bring a small peace of the restaurantfeeling to your home. The product is practical and easy to carry to the cottage or hotelroom and is ready to eat immediately from the package.

Scenario

After a long day on the mountain, you usually feel hungry and of course you wish to eat something tasty. You’ve been eating out the last couple of days and one more evening at a restaurant do not attract you while spending time at a kitchen prepering your own meal is not a opption after a hardworking day down the slopes. One obvious option remains and it is the fastfood industry. Because of you’re on vacation you like something more luxorious, healthyer and more attractive than a quick burger. When you look for someting at the foodmarket you see the perfect choise, Take Mikado’s prime sushi.

Design Concept

The concept with our package is to hide all the accessorys not worth the immediate attention and point out the beautiful sushi. A drawerfunction were created to the package and when you pull out the drawer, you get presented to the the soy, wasabi and ginger, a small soyplate and a wet wipe. The chopsticks are kept a side on the front of our package, above the drawer built in to the construction. The graphics are minimalistic and clean, kept only on the cover to give the rest of the package a long life after it is consumed. We put our time and effort on typography and function of the package. On the cover a window with a flap is placed. Closed it presents the clean design and creates curiosity to the consumer. When the window opens the sushi get exposed and the package design takes a new graphic form, color is added. This provides the chance to see what you are about to buy before paying for it.
