Kickflipping our design

We are in full process with designing our first aid kit for skateboarders. After last weeks work with moodboard and redesigning we have now advanced to working more intensely with the layout.

Material hunt

Last Thursday we decided to buy all the necessary components for our design. In the beginning of this week we wanted to use plywood in the bottom of the inside of our box to give it stability, durability and a nice texture. When we had had our weekly meeting with our teachers, we dropped the wood idea due to it would be to expensive to produce it in a larger scale. We are now focusing on using cardboard instead. We will have to make holes for the elastic band, so we are going to put in eyelets to give it the durability we also would have gotten from using plywood.

Showing our design idea

We payed a visit to our local skateboard place on Sunday, where we showed our idea to the skaters and their parents. They were very positive and gave us some helpful feedback. The feedback resulted in that we added an elastic bandage to the content of the box.

A meeting at the local skatehall

We met with a couple of skaters and got some great feedback.

Design elements

This week we have spent a lot of time on illustrations, symbols and working with typoraphy. It feels like we have found the aesthetics that we seek. All the diffrent elements are taking form and are starting to fit together. We have used laser to cut out our logo out of griptape. The result is incredible!
