Examination and the Black Box

A lot has happened with our project since last week! What happened then, you ask? We worked a lot with our illustrations. We recieved advice that we should  take a step back and take a second look at our box. We realised therefore that our box was way too big for our scenario as an interior detail, and that it didn’t exactly meet our expectations.

Therefore, the first thing we did was to drastically shrink our first aid kit, as well as give it a well deserved facelift with a change of colours. Now, the box is all black with silver details, we took a couple of snaps for a marketing campaign. We created a plan for both  a launch event, as well as an ad for interior magazines.

Box examination

On Wednesday, it was our first examination. Yikes! For this first real unveiling of our box to criticism, we were to face our teachers and our fellow peers, and we got to give a five minute pitch on why our box was awesome. We received a lot of good feedback, both on our pitch technique, as well on our box, our solutions and craftmanship. We were complimented on the look for the outer box, but they questioned  whether or not we could  develop the inside even further to match the outside. They also suggested that we should look into our typography and try to connect it more with our concept. All this gave us a lot to think and reflect about and gave us ideas how to improve our project.

 The aftermath and looking forward

Post examination, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, we returned to the workbench. We wanted to refine our box ever further. After getting  feedback from one of our teachers, we decided to cut the silver, and focus on the colour black wholeheartedly instead. Now, we’ve got an entirely black box, which we think is giving us a more uniform and interesting look.

Our next step? We are going to focus further on the final touches on the box, as well as preparing both ourselves and the box for the final pitch.
