CPU-assembly and copper moodboard

Welcome back!

This week we fokused on assembling of the parts we found at the recycling station. With help from Janne att the industrial desgin department we drilled and milled the CPU-cooler blocks so that we could assemble them. The result is a standing lamp made out of CPU-cooler combined with new lampholders from Clas Ohlsson. We fell in love with the collition between the alluminium and copper of the CPU-cooler, which is why we choose the lampholder with a copper plating. The fact that this lampholder had a black braided cable didn’t bother us at all, because it complement the heavy weight of the lamp.

The moodboard was assembled with great speed, but with utmost thought to it. At this stage we focused a lot on potential colors and materials of the package, aswell as colors of the inside of the package. The base of the package will of course be made out of paper(as the assignment says), but to add a more luxurious feel to it, we’re thinking of lining it with cloth -at least on the inside. We presented our moodboard at this week’s brief and got ourselfs some feedback from both Niklas and Anna-Sara, but also from Ida Hansson -the founder of the company Nordic Remake.

Colorwise we’ve decided to work with dark green shade, which complement the copper very well. None of this is set in stone, but we’re quite sure about using dark colors on the outside of the package, to not give false expectations due to the heavy weight of the product inside -which a lighter color could indicate.

Fontwise we’re looking at Sanseriffs. We would like to think that the straight and mechanical style of sanseriffs could go well with the look and feel of both product and package and that is we want to communicate.

CPU later!
