Redefining luxury one package at a time

We are making a innovative packaging solution that is sustainable and suitable for luxurious beverage. The mission is to, with the packaging solution as our medium, awaken the senses. 

After a thorough research process we realized that the main problem with this design is to combine sustainability with luxury since the meaning of the word luxury contradicts sustainability. Our challenge is therefore to create a new definition of luxury that suits the modern world and to create a packaging solution that helps spread the word. Examples of luxurious definitions in the modern world can be the use of someones time or maybe the opportunity to easily make good choices for the environment and more.

The name of our product is therefore “Redefined (by the Swedish forest)” which indicates a redefinition of luxury and hopefully can be used to raise awareness among consumers. 

It is important for us that this solution have many areas of use which prolongs the packaging existence. 

Prototype folding

Our theme revolves around the forest of Sweden. Each material should be natural-based. We want the look and feel to be perceived as coming directly from the forest with focus on shapes that feel organic in a geometric way (i.e. pine cone and bark patterns).

We are now in the process of shaping our prototype. We need to find the right measurements to be able to enclose the form. Another problem we’ve found is that we haven’t figured out how our labels and such will stick on the surface of our package if it is not flat. We have continuous discussions regarding the typography.

This week we’ve done a test print of colors, logo and fonts as well as a few patterns and find the results quite pleasing. Next week will be all about folding papers.
