Packaging prototypes, ANKAR Sweden project

The second week of this project is soon to be over. Our focus this week has been to create packaging prototypes of different packaging solutions for ANKAR Sweden.

We have had several lectures about different packaging materials for example corrugated cardboard. Right now we are trying these things out. We’ve found several advantages with using corrugated cardboard, it’s a strong but still light weight material, suitable for a webshop. There are still a few disadvantages with this material since it’s not very good looking, we want to find a solution to make it look more exclusive and beautiful. At the moment we’ve managed to break it down into three possible solutions and right now we´re working on testing colors, materials and typography on the packaging prototypes.

Fabric

To achieve a sense of luxury we thought that the use of fabric would be a good idea. Discussions are beeing held on however the whole box should be wrapped in fabric or just parts of it. A lot of time were spent on finding resellers of the material and researching the costs of using them.

Experimenting with color

Color test

Color test with water color

We also found time to experiment with some watercolors. We think, based on our research, that the use of strong color and a hand made texture would reflect the brand in a good way. The idea is to make a good hand painted texture that we can print on our package. If this turns out good we think that it would ad an extra feeling to the box.
