The cross – your first aid kit for the home

We are finally done with our first aid kit and can proudly present to you The First Aid Cross or as we say in Swedish “Första Hjälpen Korset”. In the very last second we changed the pattern on the outside of the cross. We created a graphic pattern that, believe it or not, is made out of crosses. We have also changed the sides of the boxes from white to black to match the new pattern. The backside of the cross is still white, and on the black sides we have printed text that explains what the different boxes contains. We imagine the cross to be available in different patterns and colors så that it fits in every type of home, this is just one example of pattern and the variation is endless.

The inside of the cross

The first aid cross contains all of the first aid products that you need. As we explained in the beginning of all this, the kits needed to contain at least this five things: plaster, pressure dressings, gloves, scissor and breathingmask. We have chosen to add burn-gel, samarin. elastic bandage and tweezer. We wanted to package all the products so that they would be easy to use, thats why we mostly choose to create open packages. We dont think that you should need to open a second box to get hold of what you need in a potential emergency. And we think its important that you can use it whit one hand, if the other one is injured. Inside the hatches there is instructions whit pictograms and short descriptive texts.

In addition to the cross we have made a folder that unfolds into a poster that you for example can put inside your kitchen cabinet. It contains information on the products but also information about first aid such as cardiac resuscitation.

Mission completed

When we started this assignment our vision was to create a first aid that would get as important and natural roll in the home as in the workplace or school. To accomplish that we wanted to make a functional and good-looking interior decoration. In addition to that we wanted the cross to be sustainable and practical so that its easy to use when you for example have cut yourself in the finger and need a plaster. We believe that the cross also needed to be as stylish, simple and appealing as possible so that people want to buy it and hang it on their wall.

Tomorrow – friday we have our big examination and vernissage, this week we have all created posters that we have placed all around campus to invite everyone to our vernissage that we have named “to package a first aid kit” or “att förpacka första hjälpen”. The vernissage starts at 13:15  in J-house on campus.

We believe that we have met our goals that we had when we first started this assignment and we are really looking forward to show everyone what we have accomplish on friday.

Hope we see you there!
