Enlarging the Kim Hagelind box

This week me and Rachel Wallin have continued with our Kim Hagelind box, with the task of enlarging it to the proper size. It was a bit problematic since the the template is too large for the printer and the paper format available at our University.

How we tried to solve the problem

We made a prototype in 50x50x50cm by using 30 A3-papers for the template, and four matte black papers in 70x100cm. This protoype turned out to be slightly too big, so our next step is to try to make it approximately 35x35x35cm and see how that turns out.

Prototype with the Kim Hagelind logotypes edited on to demonstrate how it will look like eventually.

We have decided to go in the direction of making the box matte black with enamel logotypes. The enamel logotypes will stand out on the matte box a bit like on the pictures above. Our plan is to place the logotype on at least 3 sides on the box, just to stress that there is no right or wrong way to place the box.

Product photopgraphy in the studio

This week we have also had our first product photography session in the studio. The pictures in this post are the result of that photography session, although the prototype in the pictures is a smaller version of the box.

The inside of the box and other graphic elements

We will have the inside of the box in plain white, but make a wrapper paper that will have a grid pattern. We will also make a tag, a poster, and a sketch of a website for Kim Hagelind.

Linear pattern with curvy lines that make the lines look more 3D.

A draft of the wrapper pattern.
