If last week was about building the structure – this week has been about simplifying the design. This is our first packaging course and we went in with the idea to pack everything that came in our way. We realized that we have been slightly overambitious. The box and the different packages inside were to complicated to open. The original idea  that our product should fit into a scenario of stress and panic was lost. Instead we dived deeper into the wonderful world of packaging. We decided to go back to basic – the smaller boxes needs to be easier to open so the products inside will be easier to access.

In search for suitable material

From the start we knew that we wanted to wrap the box in a durable material. This week we finally came in contact with a distributor that had the material we searched! They send us some samples and we are now awaiting delivery.

Not simple – just simplifying

We have also started with the graphic design. Things like color scheme, instruction pictures and typography are now taking shape. This part is all about eliminating the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak. Fine details are exchanged for simplicity. The reason is to make the use of the products clear for people who do not understand Swedish and also make it possible for the information to be received quickly. The products should not only be easy to use, we also want them to be astetichal and pleasant to look at. By simplifying we have to make sure not to make the products simpler.
